The flashlight is a tool and weapon in Doom 3. Its default key is F (White for Xbox). Its main purpose is to light up dark corridors, although it can be used as a weapon at close range. The flashlight in lower levels can be used to attack zombies to conserve ammo. It has a slightly slower attack rate than the fists when used in this way, but is about twice as powerful. Attacking an enemy. On ps3 definitely get the bfg edition. It has the upgrades to the game that let you use a flashlight and a weapon! If you ever happen to get it for PC then get the regular doom 3 since all the mods are for it and not the bfg edition. The original Doom 3 kept the flashlight as a separate item, meaning you had to plunge the world into total darkness if monsters suddenly attacked while you were exploring a lightless area. The 'duct tape' mod became so popular among PC users for improving the overall experience that it was - thankfully - included in this HD remake.
When Doom 3 was released, many players and reviewers weren’t happy with its flashlight mechanic. The game went for a horror mood and featured kilometers of overly dark corridors. There was a flashlight, but you couldn’t use it alongside a gun. The BFG edition (and mods before it) changed that, mounting the lightsource on Doomguy’s shoulder. The result was… a wholly different game!
2004’s Doom 3 was a very slow-paced shooter, to the point it felt more like a traditional survival horror (at least in the first half of the campaign).
Since you weren’t able to hold the flashlight and a gun at the same time, and the environment was often pitch black, you had to move carefully, exploring every nook and cranny for supplies. Tension was (and still is!) palpable. Having returned to the game just a few days ago, I kept switching between the gun and the light constantly, fearing a sudden attack. There were a lot of jump scares in form of enemies that revealed themselves only as I came close enough to smell their bad breath.

BFG edition not only added the option of having the light on all the time, but it also slightly increased the strength of the beam (or at least I felt like it did). It made the game play more like… Doom! There was no need to be careful anymore, so I rushed through levels, being able to distinguish both ammo packs and enemies from a distance. Jump scares were no more. It became a frenetic, action packed experience, similar to the original two games and not that different from Doom 2016, albeit less fluid and set in tighter corridors.
The question is: was this change really needed?

At release, the original version of Doom 3 was met with some negative feedback because of the flashlight mechanic, which, as many had felt, put the player at a disadvantage. The BFG edition has been criticized for not doing that. It seems like some fans have started to appreciate this limitation only after it was gone. I, however, always liked the little inconvenience — but at the same time, I also quite enjoyed the change of pace the new flashlight brough to the table.
Now I own both editions of the game, but it’s more like having two entirely different Doom 3s. I like them for what they are, and recommend you to give them a try as well. Minecraft autoclicker for mac. It’s amazing how a small change can transform the entire experience.

Doom 2 Flashlight Mod
Weapons
These are the weapons which can be found in the wad:
- Slot 1: Fist
- Slot 2: Pistol
- Slot 3: Shotgun
- Slot 4: Machine Gun
- Slot 5: Chaingun
- Slot 6: Rocket Launcher
- Slot 7: Plasma Gun
- Slot 8: BFG 9000
- Slot 9: Chainsaw
- F Key: Flashlight
There is also a slight possibility that the grenades will be added. Also, any suggestions made at the mod's thread will be considered.
In this mod, there are no default key binds except the flashlight, which is automatically bound to the F key. Instead, you must go to the 'Customize Controls' menu and assign the weapons to whatever you wish. As another feature, you can also zoom the view in to make aiming easier, like using a sniper rifle scope.
All sprites were created by the Doom 2.5 team. Thanks also goes to soft_haxorz for greatly improving the flashlight.
Other changes in the wad include the Pistol, Shotgun, and Chaingun Zombies with more health.

The final build has been released with a BFG fix and a new rocket launcher recoil. Also, on 7/11/05 the wad became standalone, so that it can be used in conjuction with any other iwads/pwads you may want to play with the Doom 3 Weapons Mod.
Unless any bugs are reported or ChaosCentral decides to add the grenades/any suggestions, this mod will no longer be updated. If you have any questions or suggestions, post at the mod's thread, located here. Download the Doom 3 Weapons Mod below:
